• How are they removed?

If you chose to remove a skin lesion, surgery is the only way to do so.

  • What does surgery entail?

All these procedures are relatively quick, usually taking 20 minutes to half an hour. When removing an epidermoid cyst, an elliptical cut will be made over the cyst and will then cut it out.   When removing a lipoma, a straight cut is made in the skin directly over it and the lipoma is freed up from the tissues and removed. A skin tag can simply be numbed with local anesthetic and then removed. When removing a mole, your surgeon will cut all the way around it using an elliptical cut.

  • How quickly will I recover?

You should be able to go home a short while after the operation and return to work the following day unless your work will put a strain on the stitches.
